I won’t lie, I’m having some troubles brainstorming a good topic to talk about.
However, I stumbled upon the news regarding legalizing prostitution in Vancouver “for” the Winter Olympics. At first I was like, Whaaatttt that’s ridiculous! No way! Etc etc.
So I did some research. Did you guys know that prostitution was abolished by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in 1873? They were also responsible for the banning of drugs and high-control of alcohol.
Now imagine a country that has drugs and prostutition legalized and no alcohol restrictions. What do you see? I see a scence from the Pirates of the Caribbean where anyone can do anything and hell, even killing is legal. Doesn’t that sound like a kid without parents to look over him? Imagine what this kid would grow up to be like. Certainly not a respectable young man who earns an honest living.
SO WHYYYYYYYYY VANCOUVERRRR. First your inukshuk logo which bothers me because the only inukshuk I’ve seen are the ones made by the sea, not the huge ones you’d find – I don’t know – IN THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (Read: NOT BC). And don’t even get me started on your mascots for the 2010 Olympics. I just… won’t go there. Whewwwww.
HERE’S WHAT I THINK, VANCOUVER:

HMMPH.

had trouble following your very long line of (very good) thoughts but yes, there should be more awareness among the general public about this issue.
(if prostitution is illegal, what makes them think it should become legal just b/c of the olympics? or is that the side they’d want others to see of vancouver?)
ANYWAY, can’t wait to see what this evolves into. u’ve got a strong message + direction. :}
Ahhh sorry my train of thought can be rather confusing sometimes and… erratic. Hehe.
Thanks though! I’ll keep working on organizing thoughts and coming up with a logo + symbol + poster that represents my outrage.
